White Walls Gallery/ Shepard Fairey Exhibit
I saved the best of the SF/APE pics for last. Besides APE, the only other thing I wanted to check out was White Walls latest show. The artist that's up this month is Shepard Fairey. Holy crap. I was blown away by this show. His stuff has come a long way since the OBEY posters, and this latest batch of work did not disappoint one bit. I'm not going to try and explain how bad ass his latest stuff is, hopefully, you'll get a small hint of it from the pics, and if you're in San Francisco this month, you should go out of your way to check this stuff out.

More San Francisco Goodness
Posting this a little late, but oh well. These are some more pics from the weekend of the APE show a few weeks back. The day before APE, Dev Karin and myself wandered around the city. We tracked down Isotope Comics. Really cool store. Good comic selection, a nice lounge area to read in, and a nice selection of original art on the wall. Not only is there original art, but they have original art on toilet seats. Don't believe me? Go to the 'store' section on their website , or click here to see some cool photos. There's also a familiar looking cape looming upstairs- 'nuff said.

S.F. Street Art
Blogger is being a real pain tonight, so I'll be posting the SF pictures in separate chunks. These pics were taken just walking around the city. Dev, Karin and myself had some places we wanted to hit like Super 7, Upper Playground, Kid Robot, Double Punch. The Super 7 guys were really laid back. When we asked where all the other stores were, they didn't hesitate to print us up a map. What I really enjoyed was seeing all of the amazing art on the streets. The other great thing was that the stores we went to were totally supporting all the local talent by selling tons of their merch. Upper Playground carried tons of stuff from Sam Flores, N8Vandyke Coro........hard not to walk out of those stores empty handed. Check back soon for more pics from the pre APE SF art adventure. I haven't even posted the good stuff yet.

The Brewery part II

Here is some more kick ass work from the Brewery. I apologize for not remembering this guy's name. We saw so many artists that day it was hard to keep track. If you check out the Brewery's website, I believe there's a page of links to most of the artists.

SKETCHMART!
Check out the new Sketchmart blog. If you can't find that one cool sketchbook you've been looking for, or that hard to find European graphic novel, I'm sure this place will help you track it down.

Anyone got $7000.00 they can loan me?

Just my opinion, but Robert McGinnis paints/draws some of the sexiest women ever. If you ever get a chance to see an original, you'd be doing yourself a favor. I'm always amazed that he draws his ladies with the biggest feet ever, but they still look smokin'. Click on the main title to check out the auction at the Illustration House. Here's a link to some more McGinnis goodnes:

Progression of a Mural part I

Here, are some more pictures from the Thinkspace opening. Around the corner on the outside wall of the gallery, graffiti artist Mear One was in the process of doing a mural.
